Seeking funding for your public health project that addresses health equity?
The Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP) has stipends to support student projects during the 2024–25 academic year.
This program exists to establish or strengthen field placements for students at health agencies or organizations, to address health disparities and improve health equity. NWCPHP hopes these stipends will help students enhance public health services to rural and/or medically underserved communities to better address issues related to the social determinants of health.
Approximately twenty-one students will be awarded up to $3,500 each for public health projects conducted in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Funds will be distributed directly to students and are intended to help them defray living expenses during their hands-on learning experience.
“The most impactful part of this process for me was seeing abstract ideas put into practice,” noted a former recipient. "It was really informative to get direct, hands-on experience in the real world and see how people are working to combat systemic problems and engage communities."
Stipends are available for undergraduate juniors and seniors and graduate students enrolled in public health, psychology, sociology, and social work degree programs. Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible.
Proposals will be evaluated based on public health practice focus, attention to underserved areas and populations, and feasibility.
